The greatest enemy of any online business is not getting found. Have you ever wondered how some people seem to have all the luck? It’s actually no luck at all. It’s careful planning and being brilliant on basics.

Here’s 4 basics to consider for your business.

#1. Get Found. If you can’t get your business found, what kind of business are you going to have. Mediocre, right? If you just do a few tweeks to the way you do business, you will be amazed at your increased results.

#2. Get Clicked. Getting found isn’t enough. You need to follow that up with getting clicked. Your headline and description must be effective to get people to click on your business. Think of organic search no different than advertising. Great headline and sub-headline to get attention.

#3. Get Connected. How many websites have you been to after searching Google, only to find that they don’t even relate to what you searched for? You need to relate and connect to prospects to get them to stay and look at what you have to offer.

#4. Get Action. Once we get found, get clicked and get connected, the game begins! We need to influence prospects to take action. With the right sales process and skillful communication, that is very possible. Without it, nothing happens!

I’m going to take about four important ingredients that are critical to your success in doing business online.

I can’t believe how many times this is missed, people are just not focused on these things. They’re in every other area being busy, being busy and forgetting about the basics. I like to say,

“let’s be Brilliant on Basics!”

Basic #1. Get Found. Number 1 is get your page, your landing page, your advertising page, your website found. That’s the first rule of thumb is to get found. If you can’t get found, what good is your website? I pause there just so you can answer that. It’s not going to be too effective if you can’t get found, is it?

The first thing we want to do is get found and where is the most important place today of getting found, at least in most instances? It’s not Yellow Pages anymore, it’s Google it! So how do you get found on the first page of Google?

Now let’s think about that for a second. Do a search for, let’s say for mechanical repairs. I’m just going to guess these figures off the top of my head having done some of this research before.

Let’s say there are 140 million pages. It shows you that right at the top of the first page of Google. 140 million mentions of mechanical repairs and I think the last time I counted on the front page there were two or three ads at the top and I believe two at the bottom.

They have stopped the ads on the right side so now what we’ve got. We’ve got, let’s say even six ads, top and bottom and in between I think there’s about 15. So let’s say there’s 15 spots. How are you going to get your website page found in 1 of 15? Obviously everyone wants to be number one but let’s just say the top 15. How do we get in the top 15 when there’s 140 million mentions of mechanical repairs? That’s a trick in itself!

That’s the first thing that you need to do is get yourself found. Think about the logic – 15 out of 140 million! Everybody’s emailing all the businesses and saying we’re going to get you to the first page of Google. Everybody kind of buys that because they want to be on the first page of Google but everybody can’t be on the first page of Google. There’s only 15.

I don’t know the last time you searched. Unless I’m really looking for something, something that is of high importance, I might go 5 pages but I can count on my hands how many times I’ve gone 5 pages. Normally about 3 pages and then I start and change my search criteria and search again on the first page, second page and third page.

How about you? Probably the same right? Most people I talk to don’t go past the first page. So you need to spend a lot of time in this area in getting found.

Basic #2. Get Clicked. The next area is, once you get found you need to get clicked. if you were fortunate enough to be in the top 15 on that first page and you have got that search criteria exactly the way that people are searching for and you end up in the top 15, how do you get clicked?

One of the ways and a lot of people don’t even pay attention to this. On pages for example, they name pages index or page one or whatever words they’ve got. Maybe one, two, three, four. I’m not sure how they’re naming them but I know they’re not naming them correctly. If people are searching for mechanical repair then you want to make sure that the page is called mechanical repair or has that mechanical repair search criteria within the heading.

Then, when you come to the description of your page, the page title and your heading become very important. Obviously content is the end-all and be-all. I’m not talking about content right now. I’m talking about just the headline and the page title.

So the headline, how do you get clicked?

A lot of people don’t spend enough time thinking or changing it if they’re not getting that page clicked. They don’t even bother with it. They just put the website up and that’s it. Then wonder, why am I not doing business on the internet? Why am I not getting found? They don’t know! They’re not checking!

We need to measure these things. Getting clicked is very important so watch your headline.

When you read the newspaper, if you’re anything like me, I flip through the newspaper and I look at the headlines and I look at the pictures. Well, there’s no pictures on the first page of Google except one on the right hand side. There’s is maybe a company highlighted so make sure you’re registered there as well.

There’s no pictures so the headline becomes critical! Make sure you’ve got the right headline so that people are going to click you once you get found.

Basic #3. Get Connected. The next thing is when you get clicked. How many times do you click on something and you end up on that webpage and really, you can’t even figure it out. You don’t know what that page is all about. It’s not easily read, it doesn’t relate to what you’re looking for. So make sure you get connected.

How you get connected is have something relevant to what people are searching for. If your page is mechanical repair, then don’t show pictures of windscreen unless you’re going after windscreen repair.

If you’re after mechanical repair, there should be some – if we go back to the picture and the headline – there should be a headline.

As simple as, I’m not saying this but to give you an idea of what I am talking about. It could be as simple as “we do mechanical repairs” and underneath is its got a picture of a car and someone looking at the motor of the car or someone underneath the hoist that shows that you do mechanical repair to give some kind of indication of what you do.

So when I come to your website, that page that I’m looking at that I’ve searched for, I want to be sure I’m in the right place. The more organized you have that to what people are searching for, the better chance of them staying to see what you offer. Don’t try to have one page covering everything because it’s highly impossible or highly improbable anyway to be all things to all people.

So if you’re after mechanical repair and you’ve got windscreen repair, have a page for windscreen repair and have a page for mechanical repair and so on and so forth, whatever your business is. Spend the time and put the time into that.

Basic #4. Get Action. So next, once we’ve got found, we can get clicked because we’ve got a good headline. We get connected because we’ve got the right words there and we’ve got the right pictures. The final thing that we need and probably the most important, however, all of these are important. If I had to pick one, it would be this one.

Get action! Why do you have people finding you, clicking you and getting connected to you for? It’s usually to get some type of result and that result is usually to sell a product or service. This becomes very important. In other videos I’ve talked about the sales process. This is a process in itself to get action.

There’s got to be some type of sales process that you going to run people through. When you put them through your sales process and you’ve got good sales communication. When you can inspire people to take action, then they buy your product or service or they perform the action that you are requesting them to.

So these four things become critical in getting results in your business, growing your business, building your business and profiting from your business online. There’s so much opportunity today! Yes, everybody’s online but there’s not everybody online and there’s more coming. Next year, there will be more! Your window of opportunity is there right now! It’s your business.
